A Memorial Day Tribute

The Richardson Community Band begins its 2008 Summer Series by honoring America and the many men and women who have fought to defend our freedom.  Plan now to make this concert a part of your family’s Memorial Day weekend activities.

The Musical Zoo

Tonight the band’s program will include music that salutes our friends in the animal kingdom.  Featured selections will include Carnival of the Animals and The Story of Mumble Happy Feet.  Tuba Soloist Kevin Miller will perform the solo Elephantine Polka.

Music for a Summer Night

The Summer Solstice is Saturday, June 21, 2008.  The Richardson Community Band celebrates the beginning of the lazy days of summer with a wide variety of music for our audience. 

July 4, 2008

Independence Day Celebration         approx. 8:00 p.m.

The Richardson Community Band joins the City of Richardson at Breckinridge Park for a special patriotic concert preceding the fireworks.  This program will contain lots of flag-waving favorites.  Come honor our great country at this festive celebration

Christmas in July

Santa Claus, Guest Conductor

It may not be cold and snowy, but tonight the Richardson Community Band celebrates Christmas in July. All of your holiday favorites played under the hot Texas sun. Santa Claus will even take some time off from his summer vacation to conduct the band. Jeannie Clark Fisher will be the featured vocal soloist.
 

Jeannie Clark Fisher received her degree in voice performance from Ithaca College in New York State and has had a broad and varied musical performing experience. She has performed in the Dallas Symphony Chorus, as a guest artist with Musica Nova directed by Robert Rodriguez (University of Texas at Dallas), as a soloist with many local orchestras and bands, and currently sings in the Dallas Opera Chorus. She performs popular music as well and has sung and played the piano and guitar for hotels, restaurants, country clubs, coffeehouses, college campuses, bookstores, weddings and retirement communities and has CD recordings of folk and original music. She teaches voice in her home studio and has taught in the private lesson programs for two school districts in Texas for eight years. She is also a piano accompanist for voice and band student contests and recitals. She has continued her education at the University of North Texas and has participated in many workshops applying The Alexander Technique to voice performance. Jeannie and her husband, Wayne, live in Allen, TX and they have two grown daughters.

A Silver Celebration

The Richardson Community Band celebrates the 25 year relationship with conductor George W. Jones.  A highlight of the concert will be a performance of the Silver Celebration Overture composed by John Wasson in honor of the 25th anniversary.  An evening filled with memories.

August 17, 2008

Season Finale

The Richardson Community Band closes out our Summer Series with a concert of old favorites.  Say good-bye to summer by joining us in this final outdoor concert. 

  All concerts (with the exception of July 4th) are held on the lawn of the Richardson Civic Center located at 900 Civic Center Dr.  Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and are free to the public.  Families are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic supper and enjoy an evening of music.
